From our family kitchen to yours, we’re here to share more than just recipes—we’re sharing memories, traditions, and the essence of Indian cooking.
It all started with three sisters, and of course, our beloved mother, the heart of our home-cooked meals. Growing up in the lush valleys of Kashmir, surrounded by the Himalayan mountains, food was more than just nourishment; it was a celebration. The ritual of gathering for every meal, sitting cross-legged with our thalis in hand, taught us the importance of togetherness and the magic that spices bring to every dish.
When our family moved to the UK in the 1970s, our love for cooking didn’t waver. Even as we adjusted to life in Derbyshire, our mother’s spice box—the masala dabba—remained a symbol of our heritage and creativity in the kitchen. We learned that spices weren’t just ingredients, they were the heart of every dish, turning even the simplest recipes into something extraordinary.
Inspired by the curiosity of our friends and family, The Three Sisters was born. We wanted to show people how easy and fulfilling it is to cook Indian food from scratch, using fresh ingredients and a few essential spices. And what better way to start than with our own Spice Box—a carefully curated collection of 13 essential spices that bring the flavoUrs of India into your kitchen.

Our passion for food and community has taken us on a journey—from sharing recipes with friends, to showcasing our Indian Cookery Sets at exhibitions like BBC Good Food and Grand Designs. We’ve published two best-selling cookbooks, appeared on TV, and taught cookery classes across the UK. But at the heart of it all, we remain a small, family-run business, driven by our love for cooking and sharing that joy with you.
With one sister in the UK, one in North America, and one in India, our love for food continues to bridge us across continents. And now, with the launch of our new spice blends and our YouTube channel @spiceitup, we’re excited to help even more home cooks discover the flavors of India.
